The Kickstarter Journey

by Marketing TeamNovember 18, 2021No Comments

In late 2020 we launched officially GEMJI to the world via a Kickstarter campaign . The goal of Mark (the inventor) was to reach the world of board game enthusiasts and families who were searching for alternative ways to spend quality time with their kids and adult friends.

For the past 5 years Mark and the team had spent over 3300 hours developing the product, mastering the design, creating and adapting games, and of course, playtesting. So, getting to the phase of launching the product on Kickstarter was a huge milestone for all of us.

The campaign went beyond our expectations. The project got 50% of the goal funded within 5 hours! YES - 5 hours = 300 minutes = 3600 blinks of an eye = 5100 inhales and exhales.  In just 20 hours, GEMJI got 100% funded. Hats down to all the backers out there who made this happen! Thank you for believing in the project, supporting it, and now sending us your game suggestions! You rock.

We've sent GEMJI sets around the globe. In 44 countries, to be precise. We got great feedback - messages, photos, videos, etc. We've already started collecting new game suggestions. And if you're reading this and would like to share one with us - don't hesitate to use the form located here.

Since many people asked us to buy a set after our Kickstarter campaign, the team decided to launch one on INDIEGOGO, which was also a success. Here's a link to the campaign

In between the two campaigns, we started gathering delivery information and producing the sets. Wе began ordering the supplies, getting the GEMJI tiles ready, having the travel bags sued. Everything was going as planned until... the pandemic hit us.

Like most businesses, we had issues with the supplies, sick team members, and deliveries were rescheduled. What really matters is that except for the early birds - we were able to deliver all the GEMJI sets to everyone (who could fill in their shipping details in the pledge-manager platform) pretty much on time.

But we have some BIG news to share with you! GEMJI sets are now available for preorder! We'll do our best to ship all preordered sets before Christmas. We estimate that if you place your order before 25.11, we'll ship it to you around 20 of December. If you live outside of Europe or if you order later in December - we strongly recommend going with the DHL priority delivery, because it takes just a couple of days to cross the globe.

Below is a map of all the cool people across the world who supported the project via the initial crowdfunding campaign:
