Divide all tiles evenly so that each player has 35 tiles. Choose a color of the tiles to play with (black or white).
The players both flip a tile simultaneously. The player who flipped a tile with a higher number of strokes takes both of them. If the tiles have the same number of strokes, then a “War” is declared.
Whenever the players flip two tiles equal in strokes, the game enters “War” mode. The two contested tiles remain on the table, while the players flip the next tiles in order. They do so until one of them flips a tile with a higher number of strokes than the opponent’s. The winner collects all contested tiles.
The game ends when all tiles are played.
The winner of “Small War” is the player with the bigger pile of collected tiles.
If you want to make the game more difficult, have each player calculate the value of their collected tiles. This can be done by adding up the number of strokes. The winner is the one with a larger sum of strokes.
